My husband, 2 daughters Chassidy and Alexis, my God son Austin, age 1, and myself. 3/30/2018
Do you remember growing up knowing your God parents, if you have them? I do.. But they were not apart of my life like my parents had hoped.
I met one of my bestest friends in the 5th grade. That was 16 years ago (and growing)! We never really talked about having children, or who the God parents to our children would be. So when I found out I was pregnant in 2011, the role automatically went to my best friend because I knew she would care for my baby as I would care for him or her.
Fast forward to 2017 when my best friend gave birth. She asked me, ever so sweetly, if I would be God mom to her son. PSH, ARE YOU KIDDING?! Of course!! But it didn't hit me til the day he was baptized. For someone to trust you, to take care of their child if they should ever pass away, to take said child in as your own, to love said child as if they are your own... That is a huge role I feel many do not hold up to par with!
When you have been asked to be God parent to anothers child, that is a honorable title. That is a life title. You be there every step of the way. And it is such a beaultiful experience.
See, I moved 800 miles away before my best friend was blessed pregnant. I missed her entire pregnancy. I missed his birth. I missed everything til I finally met him when he was 7 months old. But he knew my face and my voice because technology allowed us to video chat and talk whenever we wanted.

It is a total different experience holding him for the first time. Changing his diaper or feeding him for the first time. The love you feel in your heart, like "This is my God son or daughter." Their sweet little fingers wrapping around yours. It is an amazing feeling. One I vowed to never let him down. To be just like mommy's love.
I love my God son, just as much as I love my daughters.
If you have that one person in your life that you just KNOW would do everything for your child, honor them with the God parent title. It is one that should not be mistaken. It is a title of love and commitment, like a marriage and vows. You vow to care for this child and love them unconditionally.
And that is something I will always hold dear to my heart.
It doesn't end there...
10 days after my God sons baptism, I was honored with another friend asking me to be God mom to her daughter. I have only known Danyel for 3 years. But she is such a beautiful soul!
To have another friend ask you to be such a big role, is astounding. You know you must be rocking this thing called motherhood like a boss if not one, but two ask you to love their child unconditionally.. But in a good way!
I promise to hold my title PROUD. I will live up to God mom to these two precious, innocent, and adorable babies til my very last breathe; as I would my own daughters.
With love,
Samantha
